Christ the King Sunday
Scripture: Colossians 1:11-14

This Sunday, November 20, at 10:30 am in our sanctuary we will conclude our sermon series entitled "The Gospel According to Disney" with the movie The Lion King. This Sunday is also Reign of Christ or Christ the King Sunday. Through this beloved movie and scripture, including Colossians 1:11-14, we will examine what Christ's reign involves and how it is different - in a profoundly good way - than the regimes of this world. If you haven't seen the movie, we'll be showing it in the Fellowship Hall on Saturday at 6:00 pm. We hope you'll join us!

During our "Gospel According to Disney" sermon series, we will show the featured movie each Saturday evening  in the Fellowship Hall at 6:00 pm. Bring something comfy to sit in and feel free to wear your pajamas! We will have popcorn and order pizza for those who want to chip in. This Saturday's feature is "The Lion King!"

Sunday, Nov 20, we will also transition our sanctuary decor from Disney to Advent.  We have a small window of time to work--noon-2:00 pm--before the children's choir concert (see announcement below) so we can use all able bodies. Blakemore youth are already on board to help!
Blakemore's Young Adults will be meeting Sunday mornings, 9:40-10:20 am, in Room 205.  Contact Yiwen Bi (yiwen.bi@vanderbilt.edu) for more information.

Room In the Inn at Blakemore
It's time to begin planning for our guests this season from Room In the Inn. Blakemore will host eight female guests on the 4th Sunday of each month, November-April. The dates are as follows:
November 27(Thanksgiving weekend)
December 25 (Christmas Day)
January 22
February 26
March 26
April 23
Our first two dates align with Thanksgiving and Christmas, so we'll need all hands on deck to make sure our guests are well cared for. Please contact Kristi Walker (krististephenswalker@gmail.com) if you are able to drive, help with set up, provide a meal, spend the night, provide take along breakfast items and/or sack lunches, wash bedding and towels, spend time with our guests, or help with clean up.
We have a wonderful group of people who serve the church by volunteering their time to work in the office answering the phone, letting people in the door, and meeting a variety of church and community needs every day.  Our office could not function without them. Many thanks to all of you who serve so faithfully:  Franky Haggenmacher, June Evans, Pat Pile, Patty Tippens, Nancy Lawrence, Martha Hunt, Eleanor Moore, Norma Shepard, Rosanne Awbrey, Rene Bass, Patsye Candish, Gwen Liebler, Doris Fawcett, Mary Evelyn Cheshier, Bette Newman, Joe Hensley, Kathy Jackson Pat Roberts, Kelly Gambill, and Gayle Lembcke.

Store all such items in your vehicle (and out of sight). You must wear shirts with at least a 4-inch sleeve and closed-toe shoes; no flip-flops or sandals are permitted on the tour."
Reservations are now closed but you can contact Pat Pile (615-292-0052) with any additional questions.

Dec. 6th Double Nickel Reservations are made for the Variety Christmas Show at the Badgett Theatre in Grand Rivers, KY.

Final planning is in the works for this Double Nickel trip.  You will receive an e-mail with an attachment which includes details of the trip.  Please read over this and familiarize yourself with the plans.  Let Gayle Lembcke know (615-646-8710 or lembckeg@bellsouth.net) if you plan to drive and/or can take others, or if you need a ride.  We will gather at church at 8:15 am the morning of Dec. 6 and will depart by 8:30 am to ensure a timely arrival in Grand Rivers.  Contact Gayle if you have other questions.
