Enhancing Core Reading Instruction (ECRI)

We are excited to announce that on September 22 & 23 we will be offering an in-person 2-day professional learning opportunity.

Enhanced Core Reading Instruction™ is a multi-tiered program (Tier 1 and Tier 2) featuring a series of teaching routines designed to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of reading instruction in kindergarten, first and second grade. Blends nicely with any Core program. 

Format: In-person event at CSIU Main Building
Dates: 9/22/21 & 9/23/21 from  8:30am-3:30pm
Cost: no cost to area districts

Teaching Analysis: The Chain of Reasoning

This 3 credit blended course provides educators the skills to guide students through text in order to analyze and reason a well-supported meaning of the text, both orally and written. Participants will implement the evidence-based strategies in their instruction with coaching support.

Format: Blended-  Virtual-October 12- 6:00-8:00 p.m. and January. 11 6:00-8:00 p.m. In-person at CSIU-November 2, 2021 and February 23, 2022-8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. 

Cost: $400.00

Literacy Network and Collaboration Meeting 

Literacy Network Sessions provide educators with the opportunity up to stay up to current research-based practices targeting the areas of assessment, intervention, and instruction for all readers. The format for these meetings consists of updates from trusted Science of Reading sources, possible guest presentations,  state agency announcements, and open discussion from the field  
  • October 5th 11:30-12:30 Virtual 
  • November  2nd 9:00 -12:00 In-person at CSIU 
  • January 4th 11:30-12:30 Virtual
  • March 1st 11:30-12:30 Virtual 
  • April 27th 9:00 - 12:00 In-person at CSIU 
Act 48: Up to 9 hours will be awarded for sessions attended (attendance is not required at all sessions)

The Coach-Mentor Collaborative

(CMC-formally PIIC) is a great networking opportunity for educators who support teachers in instructional strategies, technology, reading, data, curriculum, etc. Whether you are a first-year coach or a veteran coach you don't want to do this year without this professional learning opportunity and team support. Meeting times:
