CPE Course Teaching Analysis-The Chain of Reasoning: (Virtual) October 12, 2021 February 23, 2021 

Teaching Analysis: The Chain of Reasoning Course is a blended course providing educators the skills to guide students through text in order to analyze and reason a well-supported meaning of the text, both orally and written. Participants will implement the evidence-based strategies in their instruction with coaching support and will be provided pre and post-tests and student growth measurement tools. These are critical life skills (college and career readiness) as well as skills needed for proficiency on the PSSA.

Indicator 13-New Teacher Transition Training: (Virtual-Live) October 13, 8-11:30 a.m. 

In response to the accountability requirements under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act 2004 (IDEA), Part B State Performance Plans (SPP), the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN) and Intermediate Unit Transition Consultants will be providing local education agencies (LEAs) targeted, sustained professional development regarding effective secondary transition practices that will reasonably enable students to meet post-secondary outcomes (Aligning Indicators 1,2, 13 and 14). The Coach Mentor Collaborative (Hybrid) October 15, 2021-March 11, 2022  

The Coaches-Mentor Collaborative (formally PIIC) is a professional learning and networking event for instructional coaches. Instructional coaches wear many hats-data coaches, resource providers, instructional specialists, technology specialists, etc. and their position is often unique in the district. For over 8 years CSIU has provided support through a certified Instructional Coach Mentor who supports coaches in:

  • the use of evidence-based instructional practices and high-yield strategies
  • self-assessment and reflection through trusting and vulnerable conversations
  • and learning that promotes professional growth and social-emotional well-being.

Trauma Informed Care in the Classroom Setting: (Virtual-Live) October 20 , 8:30-11:30 a.m.   

This session will provide an overview of the concept of trauma, how trauma affects an individual child's development, as well as behaviors educators, might see as a result of a child's traumatic experience.  This session will also provide an overview of basic strategies educators can implement to support students in their classrooms that may be experienced some type of trauma.

Trauma-Informed Care in the Classroom Setting- Focus on Self-Care: (Virtual-Live) October 20, 2021 12:00-2:30 p.m.   

Many students in our school settings have a history of traumatic experiences.  The nature of the role of an educator is rewarding yet also stressful and supporting students through trauma can add to that pressure.  The importance of self-care for staff is evident and will allow staff to be able to cope with their own stress as well as to support students through difficult times.

CSIU Text Dependent Analysis (TDA) Institute: (Inperson) 3 day event. November 17, 2021, January 13, 2022. & Feburary 8, 2022  8:30-3:00 p.m.   

The TDA Institute participants will sharpen educators' skills in identifying analysis and other critical TDA components through the examination of student responses. Educators will build strategies that address each student’s areas for growth. Grade level TDA-worthy text prompts, and lesson plans will be available to all. Participants will have access to all the Center for Assessment TDA materials including the most recent - Modeling the TDA Response and the TDA Replacement Unit.
