National Disability Award

Western Desert Dialysis are the proud recipients of a 2013 National Disability Award! CEO Sarah Brown and Chairperson Marlene Spencer attended the Awards Ceremony at Parliament House in Canberra on the 26th November where the organisation was presented with the Excellence in Accessible Communities Award.

The award recognises almost 10 years of providing dialysis services to remote communities in Central Australia and specifically the role of the Purple Truck in providing a mobile dialysis service and hope to aboriginal dialysis patients who have to leave their homes to undergo dialysis treatment.

Warburton Dialysis Unit Opening

The Warburton Dialysis Unit was officially opened on Thursday 24th October. The service, a joint project of Ngaanyatjarra Health and Western Desert Dialysis, enables dialysis patients dislocated to Alice Springs, Perth and Kalgoorlie to receive life sustaining dialysis to safely return to community to spend time with family on country. Currently the service provides dialysis home on country to 6 people at a time.

It was a fantastic day with many of the community coming along to join in the celebrations and we were even able to get a couple of people to the community for a day trip. Patient Donny Robinson was thrilled to be able to be home in Warburton with his family and performed a song on guitar for the crowd.

Ethical Enterprise Award

The WDNWPT Wellbeing Social Enterprise has been announced as the 2013 recipient of the inaugural Ethical Enterprises Award!
