Look ahead to your AGM
OK, no one really wants to do that right now, but a quick glance into the future will save you hassles next year and help you comply with government regulations. Start thinking about:
- Your AGM date - most P&C Annual General Meetings are held in Term 1, but because you need to send out notice of the meeting it's best to set the date before the end of this year (check your constitution for the amount of notice needed). The AGM is an important event, but needn't be daunting - find out more here.
- Preparing your finances to be looked over by a reviewer/auditor. After December 31, treasurers will need to finalise the books, prepare a report, and take them to a reviewer who can sign them off. This must be completed at least two weeks before the AGM. Right now, it's a good idea to line up your auditor/reviewer and start to get things organised. We have comprehensive information about the audit/review process, templates and instructions for creating your report, and a checklist of things to start gathering together - all on our Annual Review web page.

Raise funds by recycling drink containers
Now might be a great time of year to cash in on your community's use of drink containers eligible for the ACT Container Deposit Scheme. The P&C or school can create an online account with Return-It. You will receive a ten-digit number which you can share with your community to use when they drop off their containers and the funds flow to you! Find out more.
Return-It has also recently introduced a free trailer and bin hire program to help you collect large numbers of containers at events so you can receive the 10c per container while encouraging recycling.
