ACT Election - we need your help
Council is busy preparing for the ACT Election in October to ensure the best outcome for our schools. We have a list of priority areas we are taking to candidates and will assess the major parties against these and produce an 'Education Report Card' to help guide voters (this one is a draft, awaiting grades!) .
We are asking P&Cs to help us distribute this to parents. We sent a mailout about this this week, so keep an eye out for it, or order your copies to distribute via our Election webpage (available from Friday).
We are also holding an Election Forum on September 1 - a Q&A-style event where you get to quiz candidates on their schools policies. All parents are welcome. Download the poster for details or to share with your school community (in your newsletter, via email, Facebook or whatever you prefer!).

2016 CareersXpo
The annual Canberra CareersXpo is on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 August at EPIC. Entry to the CareersXpo is free and everyone is welcome. For more information email Melanie Selems or call 6205 7920.
The CareersXpo will again host WorldSkills Australia’s Try’aSkill. The theme this year has a strong focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related trade and skill areas. We are very excited to have NAO the Robot travelling from Victoria to introduce more young people to technology and discover the many STEM related pathways.
Another feature of the 2016 CareersXpo is the inaugural Career Services for Migrants and Refugees stall. The objective of the stall is to create and build meaningful networks so that migrants and refugees can be active in the Canberra community and engage in the workforce. Qualified career practitioners will also be on hand to provide career guidance. This stall is coordinated and sponsored by the ACT Education Directorate.
