Hot Topics

The summary notes from last week's hot topics meeting are now available, including a very informative presentation on gathering volunteers for fundraising.

Term break office hours

The Council office is officially closed during the school holiday, but staff will still be attending several times a week to answer your email queries or respond to phone message. This means that you can still contact us, but we would appreciate your patience.

Free workshop for parents of kids on the autism spectrum

The ACT Positive Partnerships program will be running a workshop on Wednesday May 4 (9:15am-3pm) for parents and carers of school-age children on the autism spectrum. The federally funded program is designed to improve learning outcomes. The workshops are a great opportunity to understand how to help your child learn, build and maintain an effective home/school partnership and work with the school to develop shared goals. It is also an opportunity to connect with other parents. Register online. Email with queries or call 1300 881 971.

Pass it on!

We strive to provide information of interest to all school parents in the Council Communicator. If you think any of our news items are of interest to parents at your school (like the workshop above), please share them via your school newsletter or whatever other means you wish.

We now have a template document (for you to customise) to make it easier to cut and paste items to submit to your school newsletter under the P&C Council banner if you wish.

Free Home Energy Seminars

The ACT Government's Home Energy Advice Service offers free Home Energy Advice Seminars for your school community. These provide your families with practical advice and solutions to reduce energy consumption that will save them money, without compromising the comfort of their home. The Service can also attend your school fete to provide advice to patrons. To view the topics available, visit and contact Cathy Hanson 6207 5437 for more information or booking requirements.

Healthy relationships for 14-18 year olds

Relationship Things is an online resource from the YWCA designed to help people aged 14 through 18 decide what kinds of relationships are good for them. It deals with gender, choice, communication, relationships, consent and safe sex, and includes information for teenagers, educators and parents.
