World Teachers' Day

Don't forget World Teachers' Day celebrations on this Friday - October 30. There are some free resources here to help you celebrate and the Education Directorate have produced this Thank You to colour in.

We've seen some great ways that P&Cs have shown their appreciation of teachers in the past (eg see the comments in this Facebook post or this one). From a thoughtful gift (ideas here) to morning tea treats, or messages from the kids, we're hoping you might let us know your 2020 plans so that we can share for inspiration and publicise!

Canteen Day 2020

This year, ACT schools will be celebrating the very first Canteen Day. In alignment with other states, this day will fall on the first Friday in November starting this year on Friday 6 November.

With a difficult year for canteens, and 99% of public school canteens now adhering to ACT Public School Food and Drink Policy, there's plenty to celebrate!

To help you give recognition to your canteen, its staff and volunteers, the ACT Nutrition Support Service have created some brilliant newsletter templates and social media tiles for you to grab and use!

Financial Review Training

Council's free training for members continues. This one is for treasurers wanting help or clarification about the annual financial audit/review - what it's all about, preparing for it, and help with finding a 'book-swap' partner for small P&Cs looking to avoid auditor fees.
It's on Tuesday 17 November (Week 6), 7-9pm. Via Zoom.

Running parent info sessions

One role P&Cs often take on, particularly in high schools, is running information sessions for parents. Check out how the P&C at Mt Stromlo High approaches this in our recent article:

At Our P&C - Parent Info Sessions

At Mt Stromlo, they're focusing on informing parents and helping with the difficult task of raising teens.  We spoke to P&C President Anita Mack to find out more.
