Possible changes to Year 12 Certificate
The requirements for a Year 12 Certificate are being reviewed by the ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies (BSSS). One suggestion is that English and Maths should be compulsory. What do you think? The review also covers: the number, purpose and types of certificates to be issued at the end of year 12; the scope of different packages; and, recognising extra-curricular activities and vocational education and training (VET) towards the certificate. Council has a representative on the review panel. If you have views that you would like expressed, please email them to us for inclusion.

Term deposit changes
P&Cs with a term deposit at the Commonwealth Bank should be aware that now the account may not be automatically rolled-over to a new term deposit when the term ends. Instead, if explicit renewal instructions are not given, money may be rolled into a lower-interest holding account. Read any correspondence from the bank carefully to avoid missing out on earning interest.

NAPLAN: feedback from Year 9 parents wanted
ACARA (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority) is looking for parents or carers with children in Year 9, who have positive stories to tell about how they have used NAPLAN information over the three test periods since the first ever NAPLAN in 2008. They would like to support parents to share these positive stories with the media. If you would be willing to do so, please contact Robyn Ziino.
