How was your year on the P&C?

Thanks for volunteering your time to your P&C in 2015. How was it?
We’d love to know more about your experiences via our short survey.

Auditing your accounts

According to our P&C To Do list, now is a good time for Treasurers to start preparing their books for audit and to contact an auditor (for P&Cs which use the calendar year as their financial year only). The accounts for the year, once finalised at the end of December, will need to be audited before being presented at the AGM in 2016. Find out more on our website - see the Information Sheet on 'Taking on the treasurer's job'  and also a list of potential auditors.

New Council executive

At our AGM last night, Council's new Executive Committee was voted in. Many thanks to our out-going members for their efforts to advocate for public schools in their time with Council.
The Council Executive Committee for 2016 is:
President: John Haydon
Vice-Presidents: Amanda Bichard and Viv Pearce
Secretary: Cecilia Shlegel
Treasurer: Matthew Williams
Executive Members: Andrew Bidwell, Melissa Hankinson, Debra Burnett, Kirsty McGovern-Hooley, Sharon Ding.
Thanks to these eager and dedicated volunteers!

Parent Forum - get involved with your child's learning

Tomorrow night (Thursday November 26), this free forum will explore why parental engagement matters and how best to actively engage with your children’s learning. A series of publications outlining the benefits of parental engagement and tips and strategies on ‘what works’ will be provided to all attendees. It is on at the Centre for Teaching and Learning, 51 Fremantle Drive, Stirling from 4-5pm.

Volunteer equipment grant

The Australian Government is inviting applications for Volunteer Grants of up to $5,000  to purchase small equipment (like these) which will help volunteers, assist with the reimbursement of fuel costs incurred by volunteers, and contribute towards the cost of training courses for volunteers. Applications are due by December 9. There are tips on writing grant applications on our website.

Raffles - you may not need a permit

Good news! Changes to ACT laws mean that a raffle permit is no longer required if the total prize pool is $2500 or less. If the value of your prizes totals more than $2500, a permit is still needed. All the details on our Information Sheet.

Canteen positions available

Aranda Primary School is recruiting a canteen manager (18 hours a week) and an assistant canteen manager (10-12 hours a week) for Term 1 2016. If you are interested in working at a great school that values healthy eating then please apply. See information and selection criteria. Applications close Friday 27 November.
