Promoting your P&C
Getting enough interested parents is a challenge for some organisations at this time of year, but we do have some ideas and resources to help - including a flyer about your wonderful P&C (a template for you to tweak as needed) that you can hand out, stories to inspire and ideas to get you started.

Your AGM
We also have resources to help you run your AGM, including template reports and agenda, information sheets and checklists. There is also a form for nominees for P&C committee positions to sign which includes their nomination and declarations about fitness for office and conflict of interest.

Need help with Xero?
Does your P&C use Xero for your accounting? Do your volunteers need training? Tailored Accounts have offered us 10 free places for P&C treasurers at a Xero skills workshop. It's on the 1st of March, 2-4pm in the city, and prior knowledge in bookkeeping is not required. Contact us to take up the offer of a free place.

Book swap
If your P&C has not yet arranged for the annual audit of its finances, and you have a small association (eg not running a canteen; receipts less than $400,000 pa; fewer than 1000 members), you could consider our book swap. The idea is that treasurers from two P&Cs audit each other's books to avoid paying for expensive auditors. We have another P&C interested so if you'd like to join in, please email us.

New licence agreements
If your P&C uses school space to provide a community service, you may be interested to know that some of the Education Directorate's licence agreement templates are under review. Most recently, agreements for P&C-provided Before and After School Care have been updated. Although Council was not consulted prior to this update we have been working with affected P&Cs and the Strategic Finance team to ensure the best outcomes for P&Cs. All licence agreements offered this year for Before & After School Care are likely to be 1 year agreements, with further amendments to the template under consideration. Council has recently provided support to a P&C throughout the licence agreement negotiations and will be contacting affected P&Cs to offer our support and advice through this process. In the background, Council will continue to work with the Education Directorate to ensure that amendments to the licence agreement are reasonable and fair for P&Cs.

Office furniture free to good home
The Council offices have been rearranged and we have some excess furniture that we would happily donate to your P&C. Let us know if you could use a round office table (disassembled for transport), bookshelves (also now disassembled), a filing cabinet (lockable, 3-drawer) or bar fridge (old but works).

First meeting
Council's first General Meeting for 2019 is at 7pm on 26 February at the Hedley Beare Centre for Teaching and Learning, 51 Fremantle Drive, Stirling. Given that this meeting may be prior to your AGM we will be happy to spend some time on AGM preparation and conduct, or any other questions. Let Terry know of any other topics you would like to see on the agenda.
Also, we will have a guest speaker to talk about “Be You” - a fully funded framework that promotes mental health and wellbeing in all education settings. This program works in conjunction with school psychologists and builds on the Kids Matter/Mind Matters programs.
