Funds available to help your canteen
Council is now taking applications for funds ($500-2000) to improve the viability of your canteen. We can fund a limited number of projects which would help P&C-run canteens to increase their efficiency, improve business operations, enhance profits, train staff or upgrade facilities - anything which will enhance the canteen's viability. Read the details and examples. Applications must be made on this form by August 24. Call the office if you need an extension on this deadline.
Council is grateful to an ACT Government grant for these funds.

P&C information sheets
We have recently finished updating our extensive collection of online information sheets designed to help P&Cs with all aspects of running their organisation and activities. If you have questions about the canteen, insurance, gathering more volunteers or improving your meetings, they are probably answered in these sheets. We are also happy to provide the collection, and associated templates and pro-formas, on either CD or USB drive to your P&C. Printed sets of the Information Sheets are also available. Contact our office to request one of these formats.

Food safety supervisor course
Registrations are now open for Nutrition Australia's Food Safety Supervisor course. All school canteens must have a designated food safety supervisor who has completed recognised training such as this. The $220 course is tailored for school canteen staff and prepares them to oversee day to day operations and prevent and recognise food safety hazards. The full day course will run on September 1.
