Need help with your constitution?
Is your P&C's constitution out of date? Does it no longer reflect the way your P&C works? Does it comply with the required structure? Our free, hands-on workshop will help you review, rewrite or amend your constitution. You can bring your P&C's constitution so we can work through the specific content and wording needed. We’ll look at the model rules, the Associations Act, Council’s sample P&C constitution and the process of passing an amended constitution through your P&C.
It is on Thursday May 4, from 7-9pm. Details here. Please contact us to book your attendance.

Insurance renewal questionnaire
Treasurers (and immediate past treasurers) have been sent insurance renewal questionnaires last week from Civic Insurance, the brokers of Council's group insurance scheme. P&C treasurers, in conjunction with the committee, must carefully review their insurance needs and fill out the questionnaire accurately and comprehensively.
In order to make sure your insurance covers your P&C properly, you must fully disclose all P&C operations, events, and so on, including accurate total numbers of people to be covered by the policy. If you fail to disclose an activity or cover sufficient numbers, future claims may not be honoured. Any queries, please contact David McAlary at Civic Insurance or our office.

NAPLAN to stay offline this year
This year's NAPLAN tests were to be conducted online for the first time. However, ACARA, who run the tests, announced last week that 2017 NAPLAN will now use paper tests, as in previous years, and that online testing will not commence until 2018.

Reduced red tape?
P&Cs registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) may have received an email at the end of last term advising of proposed changes to their reporting obligations (the current arrangement of annual reports to both ORS and ACNC would be replaced with just the ACNC online return). Council is looking into the implications of the proposed changes and will advise P&Cs in due course.
