Your school building and grounds

The ACT Government is running an inquiry into public school infrastructure. To help Council respond on behalf of P&Cs, we'd love to know your P&C's view of the Top 5 needs, priorities or concerns in relation to your school's buildings and grounds.  We've made a form for you to quickly fill in and return to us by April 23 (end of this week). Thanks to those who have already sent in their priorities.

Grants, grants, grants!

Check out the list of Grants (and tips to apply) on our website - there are a bunch closing in the next few weeks, including
  • Parent Engagement grants of up to $20,000 for P&Cs
  • Community Support and Infrastructure Grants of up to $10,000
  • Canberra Southern Cross Club Community Support Grants of up to $5000

Enrolment & transition - students with a disability

During May, the Education Directorate will hold information session for parents and carers of students with disabilities on enrolment options and transition opportunities for ACT public schools. There are separate sessions for students starting preschool, entering Kindergarten, moving to high school and transitioning to college in 2022. Details and registration for the free sessions.

There are also information sessions on entering tertiary education for students and for parents - hear directly from University and TAFE staff, on supports available.

Canteens: buyer guide

Not sure if food products meet canteen guidelines?  Check out the Healthy Kids Association's ACT Buyers’ Guide. It lists products as GREEN or AMBER according to the ACT’s healthy school canteen guidelines. A printed copy was sent to all ACT schools with a canteen in Term 1, 2021.
