Federal election - vote for education
Our friends at ACSSO (Council's federal counterpart) have prepared this summary of where the major parties stand on important education issues for the upcoming federal election, to help you decide where to direct your vote. Please share! It is colour coded for the major parties so that you can easily compare their positions. You can also access the major parties' education policies and what you can do to push the education agenda at this election on ACSSO's Federal Election Page.
Council representatives have also been meeting with ACT Senate candidates in the lead up to the federal election, in our role as the parent voice for public education.

Canteen networking event
There are lots of wonderful things happening in ACT school canteens and Fresh Tastes want to celebrate the wonderful people making them happen! They are partnering with Healthy Kids Association to create a networking event for canteens in Term 3. They are asking those involved with school canteens to take a quick survey to help ensure the event is inspiring and useful. It will only take a few minutes.

Treasurer's audit: Book swap?
Many P&Cs find it difficult to find an auditor willing to audit their books at the end of their financial year at reasonable cost (despite our list of auditors). One suggestion is that P&C treasurers from different P&Cs audit each other’s books. This is permitted, without needing the auditor to be qualified, as long as the P&C has gross receipts less than $400,000 per annum and fewer than 1000 members. If you would be interested in such an arrangement, please let us know.

What have you always wondered about Canberra’s schools and universities that you’d like an ABC reporter to investigate? You can submit your question on their website.
