School Canteen Improvement Grants

We're delighted to be able to fund canteen improvement projects at 32 schools, worth a total of more than $60,000. P&Cs who applied for our Canteen Improvement Grants should have received an email from us already.
Funded projects include new signage, financial software and a lot of new appliances and cooking gadgets to help prepare fresh home-cooked food for the lucky children at your schools!
Congratulations to the successful P&Cs and thanks to the ACT Government for the funds which were part of a larger canteen improvement project.

Learning Potential App for parents

The Federal Government has launched a new App - called 'Learning Potential' -  to help parents be more involved with their child's learning. We would love to know what you think of it! Send us a quick email with comments, or join the discussion on our Facebook page.

The App has short articles and videos that offer tips and ideas. You can personalise it by adding your child’s name and age and then you will receive the most relevant items. Articles can be marked to come back to later or shared through social media. You can also set a reminder to help you put the tips into practice. For example, if you’re going on a driving holiday, you can set a reminder to play some educational games in the car.

Stronger Communities Grants

Between $5 000 and $20 000 funding is now available through the Federal Government's Stronger Communities Programme for small capital projects which will deliver social and community benefits. While schools are not eligible to apply, P&Cs are. Projects must have matched contributions (in cash or 'in kind' - such as labour) from the P&C or another contributor on at least a dollar-for-dollar basis.

The grants are administered by your local Federal MP. For those on the north side, see Andrew Leigh's website and fill in this initial expression of interest form by September 7. On the south side, see Gai Brodtman's website for information and an expression of interest form, due in by September 11.
