2019 Bus network - mostly good news for schools
Canberra's new public transport network for 2019 has been released today, including information on 2019 school services. Council worked very closely with Transport Canberra to improve school services after they released a draft 2019 network earlier in the year which removed almost all dedicated school buses. We were able to collect the views of public school parents via our members (you!) and represent these to Transport Canberra. Parents wanted to see better connectivity to their in-area high school and the retention of dedicated school services. We are very pleased to see that the revised network now incorporates many of our suggested changes with a greater number of dedicated school services.
Please take a look at the planned services for your school for 2019 and let us know what you think.

Thank your volunteers
Term 4 is a great time to acknowledge all your P&C volunteers. A simple 'thank you' goes a long way, but a mention at a school assembly, or special event such as a morning tea is bound to make people feel more appreciated and help your P&C continue to recruit helpers (now is also a good time to find recruits for next year's committee members - see our resources to help).
We've teamed up with the Education Directorate to produce a Certificate of Appreciation which schools or P&Cs can download, add the volunteer name and print. Presented at a special event, these can have a lasting impact. (The Directorate also distributed this to all principals). The 'Fundraising Whisperer' also has some good ideas for thanking your volunteers.

Insurance for rides at fetes
Please note that if you are holding a fete and include Third Party ride/amusement operators, they must have their own Public Liability insurance cover with a minimum limit of indemnity of $5,000,000 for any one occurrence. In addition, P&Cs must obtain and keep a copy of the ride provider's current Public Liability Certificate of Currency. This will make it possible for the P&C to receive vicarious liability cover for claims associated with Jumping Castles, Pony Rides and other such amusements.
