The graphics will look great in newsletters or an email, on a noticeboard or the monitor in your school’s foyer; and they are perfect for social media.
The Pack is available as ready-to-use images in our “Grab and Go” Pack; or as Canva files (a free online design tool) if you would like to completely customise them for your situation.

ACT Election lobbying
Despite this year's challenges delaying our election focus, we have now collated and synthesised our election wish list and are busy organising meetings with candidates to discuss what they can pledge now to make our schools even better places in the future. Our hope is that by voicing what parents want, we can guide their pre-election policies to address key concerns. (In the past, Council has had some success with this - think school crossing supervisors, more school psychologists and chromebooks.)
You can take a look at our 2020 election wish list here. The issues have all been identified to us by our member P&Cs in surveys, direct communications and in our meetings over the past few years. We have collated the system-wide, on-going, most important issues that we think practical election promises can be made to address, and we've tried to provide examples of where we see the solutions lying.
We'll keep you posted and are hoping to bring you a summary of the major parties' positions on education to help inform your voting.

Election day stalls
Following up from our item a month ago in Council Communicator, the electoral commission have still not released the final-day polling places. This year voters will be encourage to vote across a three-week period at polling centres across Canberra (open daily 28 September to 17 October; not schools) and only a limited number of sites will be opened as additional final-day polling places on 17 October (could be some schools). We had expected these sites to be finalised by now, but you can keep checking the AEC website.
Even if your school is selected as an election day polling site, it is likely that there will be far fewer voters than usual.

Online rostering
P&Cs find online rostering tools a great way to organise, sign up and remind volunteers for events (find out more here). There is now a free, Australian tool, called "Signup Zone" created by the Fundraising Whisperer to add to the choices!
