Hi <<First Name>>,

This is Thomas Mak. This week, I’m enjoying Jocelyn’s Unsubscribe book. It is a practical guide to survive in this emails overloading decade.

My cross-platform JS development class is in 50% progress. Finished the VueJS part on Wednesday and started the ReactJS chapter in Saturday evening. All the examples are in Codepen collection. I'm going to put them into a web course too, after my current CSS3 course writing.

  1. The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, a.k.a. GDPR, is in effective. Everything you need to know about the European Union's new data privacy law, regardless of where you live. The maximum fine for a GDPR violation is 20 million euros or 4 percent of a company's annual global revenue from the year before, whichever is higher. That’s why you’ll most probably get flood load of the privacy policy changes emails in last week, which actually they have 2 years of implementation period.
  2. Most of the readers in this mailing list are my friends. Some of you are my colleagues. Some are friends we met in WorldSkills. Some are my students. And some we never met. Thank you for enjoying my newsletter every week. If you want to take this GDPR week to clean-up inbox, you can update this email newsletter preference. I cleaned up too, I unsubscribed many old newsletter to make my inbox under-control again.
  3. ReactJS has a new component life cycle. That’s why I often tell my ReactJS students to keep reading the React blog from time to time.
  4. Accessibility tools for your next web projects.
  5. I didn’t aware of the console.table until this week. That’s useful to inspect array of objects in console.
  6. This week I found a flexible JS file uploading library
  7. An official markdown to Asciidoc converter. Asciidoc has more book-writing features than markdown.
  8. A comparison between Facebook’s Flow and TypeScript.
