presents PARKETT Editions

Parkett Exhibition Space
Limmatrasse 268, 8005 Zurich

February 21 – July 4, 2015
Opening: February 20, 2015, 6 – 8 PM

“Crush” is an extraordinary presentation of selected Parkett Editions conceived by Kilian Rüthemann in Parkett’s Exhibition Space in Zurich.

The artist has laid out over ten tons of turquoise-colored, crushed glass on the floor of the gallery. Within this Arctic landscape, he has built columns of large glass chunks for the presentation of the Editions. The installation is an invitation to discover the latest Parkett Editions in tandem with a selection of earlier ones – and also an invitation to enjoy the unusual synesthetic, sensurround experience of hearing the glass crunch underfoot, feeling the unevenness and seeing the beautifully subtle variations in color. The title “Crush” not only conjures the sound of crunching glass, but also the joys of falling in love. This is mirrored in Kilian Rüthemann’s choice of editions on view in his dramatic and exciting presentation.

Kilian Rüthemann is known for architectural and spatial interventions that make the physical properties of the materials around us visible and tangible. His exhibitions at the Basel Museum of Contemporary Art (“Attacca,” 2010) and at Haus Konstruktiv Zürich (“Room for Milk,” 2012) met with critical acclaim. He was born in 1979 and lives in Basel.

Parkett’s Space in Zurich presents rotating themed exhibitions as well as projects, events, and talks with artists and curators. The gallery’s library includes every published volume of Parkett and special titles.

Published bi-annually in Parkett’s book-bound signature design, each volume features four artists’ collaborations and some fifteen essays and texts, with numerous color illustrations on 300 pages. Each artist also contributes a work especially made for Parkett as a signed and limited edition. In addition to these artists’ collaborations, Parkett features various contributions on contemporary art within a series of playful sections such as Cumulus, Insert, or Les Infos du Paradis.
