Image: NZ Metservice Severe Weather Warning September 2015
In theory, spring in New Zealand began on 1st September. That’s hard to believe as snow and rain and gales just keep on coming.

So we have decided to coax spring into action with a spring sale. Please help us to steer our weather back on track.

30% off all certificates and diplomas for individuals

Offer ends when the sun comes out. (That’s this Monday 28 September.)

In today's world, practically everyone in the workplace benefits from digital communication skills — that is knowing how to:
* reach audiences across all media platforms from web to social
* get their content ranking well on search engines
* make information clear, concise and accessible to all.

These essential skills are now mainstream. They ensure any document or content you write can be found, clearly understood and adopted by staff and customers.

Writing tip: Editing web content

Editing web content

Deep in the Diploma of Web Content lies a nifty little course on Editing Web Content.
Editing is a step-by-step process. Always start by asking the big questions, such as:
* What is this page for?
* Who needs it?
* Does it duplicate information on another page?
* What do you want people to do after reading this page?
At work when the pressure’s on, what do you do? You apply the 80:20 principle: you skip to a simple system that will fix the majority of problems very fast.
Usability rockets when you focus on four actions with maximum impact:
1. Edit headlines
2. Edit the first sentence into a summary
3. Edit hyperlink-text
4. Edit all text into plain language.
Editing Web Content is part of the Diploma in Web Content

"Extremely useful; consolidated my existing knowledge and filled in a lot of gaps." M. Tumu, Central Government

Bring back spring!
