The lack of these things in a person’s life, especially a young person, will contribute heavily to their being drawn into the gang lifestyle. It is the allure that draws them in the fastest. For many young people, the gang can become their surrogate family. It can provide love, companionship, discipline, and nurturing that their real family may not.
