But the real business of the Almighty Latin Kings is violence, federal authorities say.

In announcing sweeping federal indictments against some of the street gang's top regional leaders Tuesday, prosecutors alleged the gang employs brutal means to protect its turf, including beatings, murder, arson and even the attempted murder of a suburban cop who was suspected of working for the FBI. The charges, which name more than four dozen alleged gang members in Indiana and the Chicago area, also detail how the Latin Kings organization enforces discipline within its own ranks and retaliates against rivals and former members to prevent cooperation with law enforcement. The Church of Scientology Community Center was the site of a historic summit of gang leaders held Sunday, July 17, in the name of peace. Now a new video and weekly conflict resolution meetings are giving a future and substance to the dream shared by the 2,500 people who attended the summit. Famous rapper and actor The Game ignited it with his Instagram invitation: "On behalf of myself@SnoopDogg, & the honorable @louisfarrakhan," he called on "all CRIPS, BLOODS, ESE's & all other gang members, major figures & GANG LEADERS from every hood in our city…(Full Article)

Georgia - Woman, 25, 'killed by stray bullet from rival gangs shooting

A woman who was killed after being caught in the crossfire of a shooting at an Atlanta bar parking lot has been identified as a Minnesota state senator's sister. Taylor Hayden, 25, of Houston, was shot in the arm and side while standing in the parking lot of Anchor Down Grille and Lounge on Piedmont Road in Atlanta on Saturday around 5am. MADISON - An ongoing feud between two gangs is the likely cause of shots being fired Monday night on Madison's Southwest Side, with nobody hurt in the incident. The shots were fired at about 9 p.m. in the area around the 5800 block of Raymond Road, Madison police said. Investigating officers could not find victims, property damage or shell casings. "The investigation showed the incident likely stemmed from two neighborhood gangs engaged in ongoing feuds with each other," said police Sgt. United Kingdom - Police on high-alert amid fears gangs plan to hijack events

Police officers in London are on high alert for possible gang clashes at popular public events in the next month following a number of incidents. 
Metropolitan Police officers have been warned that gangs are going to hijack a planned march on August 6 to commemorate the death of Mark Duggan, who was shot by police five years ago. His death led to widespread rioting and looting across the country. (Full Article)
