Sunday, 20th December at  4pm  - a  Christingle Service

Oil Buying Syndicate

A reminder that Chillaton has an oil buying syndicate and if you have a need, you can place an order and benefit from a bulk buy discount. The form is on the Chillaton Website

Superfast Broadband Reaches Chillaton!

At last, Chillaton now has superfast (up to 76Mb) broadband. Fibre to cabinet. Now you can all play *CODMW2 with less latency and avoid getting kicked off by the mods or fragged unmercilessly when your connection stutters.
Or alternatively, you can watch Goldfinger on Christmas day in the shed without it stopping every time the kids nick your bandwidth.
You'll need to contact BT or whoever provides your broadband service to get set up, but for now, Chillaton has joined the internet superhighway!

*If you need to ask, then you don't really want to know.
Geoffrey Cox has now published his 2016 surgeries.

Teddy Searight VSO Appeal

In February 2016 Teddy Searight (shown here after running the Plymouth 10K) will be volunteering in Nigeria for 11 weeks withthe charity Volunteer Service Overseas (VSO) as part of the UK governments International Citizen Service (ICS) scheme. ICS sends young people abroad towork on community development projects. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to help improve the lives of some of the 100 million people living in poverty in Nigeria.
As part of the scheme he needed to raise £800 for VSO. In November he ran in the Plymouth 10k Road Race. To boost his takings he is organising a raffle which offers some truly splendid prizes donated by generous Tavistock businesses (see list below). Tickets cost £5 each with all proceeds going to the charity. Uniquely you not only have a 1 in 4 chance of winning but you can actually choose your prize!
Please see below for the prizes to be won:
Multiple tickets can be purchased. Prizes will be drawn on 18th December. Please email Teddy at: or phone/text 07547782076 to reserve your tickets.

Website Feedback, Runs, Walks and other Content

I've had a bit of feedback on the website and newsletter recently, mainly from people moving to (or looking to move to) Chillaton. Everyone says how they like to use it to give them some idea of what Chillaton is like. To that end, I encourage you all to submit content for the site and the newsletter.
Ideally the site should have things on it that are likely to be relevant for a long time, such as walks, runs, or details of local features. The newsletter should be for shorter term events or news.
I have had a couple of offers of descriptions of walks and they would be most welcome, especially for visitors to local B&Bs or relatives at Christmas. Please use the contact form on the website (or reply to this email) in the first instance and then we can take a look at what you have and decide the best way to get it to me.

Chillaton Photos

Lots of people like looking at photos of where they live, especially old photos. They might be of people they once knew, or events long forgotten. Chillaton does have a photo archive and as part of exposing that to the wider community I have now set up a photo account for Chillaton online. You can get to it via the website . We'll be sifting through the old photos in due course.
At the moment, there are only my photos up there, but ideally I'd like to populate it with your photos too. If you have them as good old film photos, we can scan them in. We'd also welcome wildlife, pets, events such as historic parties if you have some memories of old Chillaton that you would like to share, then please get in touch.
