Road from Marystowe by Chris Beighton

Roadworks

We have been informed that the planned resurfacing work will now take place, as follows:

7th - 20th June: From Perry Spears [near Coryton Station] to the White House [Stop/Go boards]
7th - 11th June: From Perry Spears to the White House [30mph speed restriction].

8th - 12th June:  From  the White House to the Round House [30mph speed restriction].

These dates are obviously designed to give some leeway to the contractor carrying out the work, but it seems likely that it will take place next week.

Latest News[papers]

We will still have a shortage of volunteers in the near future, but it looks as though we will be able to carry on for a few weeks at least.

We also now have a Plan B; the village shop at Bridestowe is prepared to
deliver papers to the Chillaton Garage for 40p per person per day, should we need that service.

If you don't currently have your newspapers delivered to the Garage and are interested in doing so, please call Howard on 860378.

Don't forget, the Fun Run  and B-B-Q are on SUNDAY 17th July.

The Chillaton Fun Run* starts at 11.30am - all ages and abilities are welcome - you can even bring your dogs....

Then from 1pm at Haye Park Field, near Green Cross, there will be an afternoon of good food with a B-B-Q, good friends and good times - just bring your own drinks!!

Please contact Bridget for more information or with offers of help.

Fun Run will be £3.00 per adult / £1.50 per child and the B-B-Q Afternoon will be approx. £ 4  per person (costs are estimated at this time).

*We call it a run, but running is not obligatory.

New on the Website

The new Parish Council website has been live for some time now and is now their official home. You can find the site at www.magpc.co.uk . Note that agendas and minutes for all Parish Council meetings are published there for you to see (and if you wish, get involved in) the decisions that are made on your behalf.
Now that the Parish Council pages no longer have to be on the Chillaton website, there is space for more content which we have rapidly filled with:

A piece under History about the Hogstor mine, following recent explorations there.
A new walk under Walking and running.
A large number of old newspaper clippings (History)
The Chillaton photo archive (Photos)

As always, your contributions are welcome, and your assistance in adding content even more so. Please use the contact page or reply to this newsletter to get in touch.
