May 20, 2022

When I was in seminary, I read a book called Crafting a Rule of Life: An Invitation to the Well-Ordered Way by Stephen Macchia. It is an intentional guide in helping you create a rule of life – or guiding principles for your life. I remember this book being a great help in thinking about a variety of aspects of my own life: my relationships, my gifts, a vision for my life, a life mission statement, etc. It forced me to sit down to think and pray about these various parts of my life. The biggest benefit of this experience was the fact that it forced me to think intentionally about the life that God has given me.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes, I lose the intentionality in my life. If I am honest, I get busy, and I just try to get from moment to moment while staying afloat. Life can get so hectic that we easily lose intentionality. What about you? Does this happen to you as well? I’d like to pose a few questions for us in hopes of thinking and acting more intentionally in our lives.
  • How can we be intentional today about focusing on our most important relationships (i.e., God, family, friends)? How can we deepen our relationships with those who are closest to us?
  • How can we be intentional about developing the gifts that God has given us? How can we use and strengthen our particular gifts to bring glory to God and grow God’s Kingdom?
  • Do I have a clear vision for my life, and am I intentionally seeking to be led by God in every step of my life? “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25
  • Are there other areas of my life in which God is leading me to be more intentional?
In a world full of distractions, let’s keep our focus on God in order to be more intentional about every aspect of our lives. We will be changed as a result, and who knows, maybe God will use us to change the world around us.

We are accepting gifts for the Wesley Woods Mother’s Day Offering throughout the month of May. For more than 60 years, Wesley Woods has addressed benevolence assistance, pastoral care, and wellness programming to older adults across North Georgia. It’s only with continued generosity to the annual Mother’s Day Offering that 75% of Wesley Woods’ seniors can stay in what has become their home. Now more than ever, the seniors who have cared for us need us to care for them. We pray that with your help in 2022, we can provide appropriate care for all in need. For checks and cash, please mention Wesley Woods in the memo line or on the envelope. To give online, go to our giving page and select Wesley Woods from the dropdown menu.
