Camden Young People's Film Festival 2016

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

You are cordially invited to a fun and inspiring screening of short films, animation and documentaries made on free courses at Camden Summer University by 14 - 19 year olds on Friday 26th August at the British Museum. There will be drinks and nibbles from 18.00, with the screening from 18.30 – 19.30. Admission is free.

A documentary from last year’s selection exploring sexting, ‘Young People, Relationships and the Law’ is now a recommended resource on the National Curriculum and this year’s programme is just as fresh and exciting.

Highlights include hipster comedy ‘The Roommate’, a stop motion animation by autistic young people inspired by the British Museum’s Sunken Cities exhibition and ‘Refugees: In Our Eyes’ a documentary about the refugee crisis and how it is being represented in the arts and media featuring Syrian refugee and activist Ahmad al-Rashid, AOI World Illustration award winner Olivier Kugler, the Jewish Museum, ice&fire theatre and campaigner Onjali Rauf who has been organizing aid to the Calais Camp with her charity Making Herstory.

The screening will take place in the Stevenson Lecture Theatre, a cinema in the Clore Centre for Education at the British Museum. If you use the main entrance, you can then take the lift or stairs down to Level -2.

It’s going to be a wonderful show. If you are coming, try to get there before 6pm as the front entrance will close at this time for another event. You can still enter by the back entrance (Montague Place) after 6pm.

Hope to see you there!

Regards,
Suzanne
