Special Edition: Celebrating a Successful 9th Annual GiveNOLA Day!

Thank You!

...to every single one of our donors, sponsors, and nonprofits who came together to make the 9th annual GiveNOLA Day, hosted by Baptist Community Ministries and powered by Entergy, a huge success. Together we raised $7.9+ million for a record-breaking 947 nonprofits from over 57,000 donations!

GiveNOLA Day 2022: Nonprofit Highlights

A record-breaking 947 nonprofits earned donations during GiveNOLA Day this year, and many saw great successes in meeting - and in many cases, exceeding - their fundraising goals. Here are just a few highlights.
Nonprofit: South Lousiana Wetlands Discovery Center
Fundraising Goal: $10,000
Total Fundraised: $11,060
Keys to Success? Our keys to success are securing a matching donor, having board members create and share individual fundraising campaign profiles, and creating fun social media posts.

Nonprofit: Second Harvest Food Bank
Fundraising Goal: $100,000
Total Fundraised: $106,573
How will you use these funds?
Two years after the start of the pandemic, Second Harvest is still responding to an increased need for food, due to inflation and the rising costs of groceries, gasoline, and other essential items. The funds donated on GiveNOLA Day will provide nearly half a million meals to children, families, and seniors facing hunger in the Greater New Orleans region.

Nonprofit: Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West
Fundraising Goal: $5,000
Total Fundraised: $5,295

Keys to Success? Reaching out to our donors early to schedule donations really helped us reach our goal this year. It allowed donors to plan ahead and schedule their donations instead of waiting for GiveNOLA Day. We also included a few quotes from our supporters and homeowners, along with visuals that demonstrated the important work and impact we make here in Western St. Tammany.
Nonprofit: Eternal Seeds
Fundraising Goal: $20,000
Total Fundraised: $24,675
Prizes: Placed 3rd in "Most Dollars Raised" and 4th in "Most Unique Donors" for "small" organizations.
How will you use these funds? Our GiveNOLA Day funds will support Eternal Seeds' focus on empowering and uplifting young and emerging artists of color in New Orleans. This includes creative collaborations, paid opportunities, mentorship, free programming, and artist-centered mutual aid campaigns.

Nonprofit: Zeus' Rescues
Fundraising Goal: $25,000
Total Fundraised: $35,375
Keys to Success? Sending donors an email blast the night before GiveNOLA Day informing folks that this is Zeus' biggest fundraiser of the year and letting them know exactly what we'll do with the money; highlighting last year's GiveNOLA Day success stories; immediately following up with thank-you notes; keeping social media posts concise and meaningful.
Nonprofit: New Orleans African American Museum
Total Fundraised: $28,274
How will you use these funds? The funds donated during GiveNOLA Day will be used toward the second phase of renovations and activations for our historic campus. This support allows us to expand our exhibition space and further develop the Community Reading Room for our partnerships with Petit Jazz Museum and Backstreet Cultural Museum.

GiveNOLA Day 2022: Behind the Scenes

Behind the Scenes: Headquarters!

Greater New Orleans Foundation staff were headquartered at our office's Center for Philanthropy making sure the 24-hour day ran smoothly. From social media management to answering donor and nonprofit questions to awarding Rock-Around-the-Clock prizes, it was a busy - and fulfilling - day.
