Alumni Play Date

Where: Centre County PAWS, 1401 Trout Road, State College, PA

Bring your PAWS dog for a fun hour of play time! Enjoy our play yard, splash pools and toys. PAWS will provide your pooch with doggie ice cream. While we love our feline alumni, they would most likely be more comfortable staying at home and would prefer if you just sent us more pictures of them.

Volunteer of the Month: Melody Sharp

This month's Volunteer of the Month is Melody Sharp, a youth volunteer who has been fostering cats and doing various projects for PAWS for a long time. Congratulations Melody! Check out the blog to learn more about Melody here: https://goo.gl/sEjN1k

The Volunteer of the Month gets a blog feature on our website and their very own parking space! The Volunteer of the Month can be anyone who logged hours during the previous month or a volunteer who has logged more than 4,000 hours.

The volunteer will be contacted via email. If a youth volunteer wins, their parent or guardian will be able to use the parking space. Make sure to log your hours!

Very Special Adoption Follow Ups

Recently several of our longer-term PAWS animals have been adopted! These can be so rewarding to see because volunteers really have a lot of time to fall in love with these special cats and dogs! This month we are featuring these exciting adoptions of long-time PAWS residents!

Sophie was recently adopted after spending 470 days at PAWS! Her new family checked in to say that she has settled in nicely and is the perfect cat for their home! They were among the most excited adopters we have ever seen, and we are so excited that Sophie has finally found a home!

Hogan, who now officially goes by "Hoagie," is fitting quite well into his new home with his former foster mom! She checked in to say that he is settling in to life in Washington D.C., and that he's already traveled to nine states since adoption and enjoyed lots of hiking. At the end of the day, after ALL that adventure, he still sleeps under the covers! Hogan was adopted after spending 188 days at PAWS.

Oreo and Middie, two FIV-positive cats, were recently adopted togther. Oreo spent 98 days at PAWS, and Middie spent 116 days. We are so grateful when an adopter is willing to look past the FIV+ label and give them a loving home, and this family decided to give TWO cats a chance! Their new family checked in to say:

"Middie and Oreo have settled in very well. I regularly hear a chirp for attention from Middie as I walk in the door at the end of the work day, and Oreo has a tendency to
appear on any available lap. They are spectacular and we love them.

Brutus: From Heartworm to Happy Home

Brutus came to us in March from Freedom Fences. We quickly discovered that he was heartworm positive. He received three months of treatment, first in the shelter and then in a loving foster home. His treatment was ruff because he needed to stay calm and not get his heart rate up too much, which is very difficult for an energetic one-year-old dog who is loving life! Now he is officially cleared of heartworm, and he wormed his way into his foster family's hearts so much that they adopted him! We are so glad that he is healthy and happy in his new home!
