Ali, available for adoption from PAWS
PAWS for the Latest
November 2015 News & Events from Centre County PAWS

Hello <<First Name>>!

Trixie, available for adoption from PAWS

Centre County PAWS is celebrating Adopt-A-Senior Pet Month during November, along with shelters across the nation. We have a number of senior cats and dogs looking for homes but the reality is older animals have a tougher time getting adopted. We think older pets are great and want to highlight a few at PAWS:

Ali is a 10-year-old pit bull mix who loves to go for walks and play with toys, but is just as happy to lounge with his person and enjoy being a quiet companion. Ali would prefer to be the only dog in the home.

While 11 years may seem old for a cat, many felines live well into their late teens and even 20s. Trixie is 11 years young, and loves to hang with people and on soft beds. She enjoys being petted and loved.

Older pets are usually calmer, are less high maintenance in terms of attention or exercise, can be trained and are more focused than youngsters, and adopters often report that seniors are especially grateful for their new homes. While a senior pet may not live as long as a puppy or kitten, once adopted, their remaining years will be some of their happiest.

PAWS Spay/Neuter Matching Gift Challenge

Spay/Neuter Matching Gift Campaign

Thanks to your gifts, we’ve raised $28,636.00 of our $30,000 goal. Once we meet this, Stone Valley Pet Lodge will match this with another $30,000.00! Together, we can do this! All funds raised are used to alter stray or feral cats in our community, in addition to family pets. We provide vouchers for reduced cost spay/neuter surgeries to those in need and we offer low cost spay/neuter clinics to help reduce pet overpopulation. Let’s get on the ball and donate!  We can bring this campaign to a close, thanks to your support!

At almost 14 years old, Eve was adopted at the end of October after spending 115 days at PAWS. An affectionate kitty who just loves to be petted, Eve makes sure you know she's a sweetheart with that special heart on her nose!

FOSTERS NEEDED

During the holiday season, we try to get as many of our animals into foster and adoptive homes as possible.

Animal foster homes are a tremendous asset to our adoption program. Every animal in foster is one less with an uncertain future. They are in our care and that means they will find a forever, caring home.

PAWSOME KIDS!

The students from NHS School State College came to PAWS recently to take a tour and learn about job and volunteer opportunities in the animal shelter field. Students learned about how to care for animals, how the PAWS facility is run, and how animals are brought into PAWS, cared for, and eventually adopted into loving forever homes. And, they also brought us treats and items for our cats and dogs!

A big woof and purr salute to this group of great students!
