PAWS for the Latest
February 2016 News & Events from Centre County PAWS

Hello <<First Name>>!

Candy hearts. Chocolate. Roses. How about a different kind of gift to say Happy Valentine’s Day this year? A gift that touches two hearts at once. Why not tell someone you care by becoming an un-furr-gettable friend to one of our cats or dogs this February? You can sponsor one of our animals in honor of your loved one for just $25 a month! Sponsorships help to support food, shelter, and medical expenses for the animals while they wait for their forever homes. So not only will you be helping our animals, you’ll also make them feel as loved as your special Valentine.

You can help spread the love this Valentine’s Day (and any day) by visiting our website and filling out the online form to become a PAWS sponsor. Your name, and/or the names of your Valentine, will be displayed on the PAWS website under the photograph of your chosen feline or canine (or if you prefer, you may remain anonymous). So if you’re looking for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift this year, look no further than the cats and dogs at PAWS! A big woof and purr salute in advance for making our animals feel loved!

Happy Birthday to Us!Deb B. celebrating PAWS' 35th Anniversary

Centre County PAWS recently celebrated our 35th Anniversary with a Volunteer Recognition Ceremony and Birthday Party. For one of our gifts, we were extremely grateful when Rep. Kerry Benninghoff presented us with a citation of congratulations from the House of Representatives for our great work helping animals. Founding member and dedicated volunteer Deb B. (and Tina) was proud to display this award.

Whiskers, adopted from PAWS

Whiskers

Whiskers was adopted in January after spending more than a year at PAWS, and now this sweetheart is settling in nicely in his new home!

His new family checked in to say, "He seems like he has finally started to settle down after spending his first two days being apprehensive. [One night], being chilly, I brought some blankets and hot tea into the room to watch a movie or two with him. After the first movie, he left his cat bed to come join me. He was purring extremely loudly all this time. He seems to finally be relaxing here."

Abby and Buster, adopted from PAWS

Abby and Buster

Long-time PAWS' residents Abby and Buster were adopted in January; and thus far, they are happy and settling into their forever home well!

Kelli, their Pet Partner at PAWS, went to visit them after almost two weeks in their new home. She said, "They are all doing great! [Their new mom] absolutely loves them and gives Buster his space. Both dogs truly looked happy! [Their mom] walks them twice a day and they have a nice little fenced in yard that they enjoy exploring on their own. We figured Abby would be happy wherever she went, but to see Buster comfortable in his new home - so heartwarming!"

FRONT DESK VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The Front Desk is in need of volunteers. If you have an interest in being at the center of all PAWS activities and enjoy working with the public, the front desk is the place for you! These positions are integral to PAWS' success. Accepting donations, surrender intakes, and meeting & greeting visitors are all key aspects.

Check out the Front Desk Volunteer training page for more information.

PAWSOME KIDS!

So many children and young adults help Centre County PAWS in so many ways. We are very grateful for the love and care they show our animals and are constantly amazed at the creative projects they work on for our Adoption Center. It was a pleasure to be able to honor all of our youth volunteers during our 35th Anniversary Celebration.
