PAWS For The Latest

August 2017 News & Events From Centre County PAWS

Septempurr Is Coming!

Kitten season is still going strong and we’ve got lots of adorable kittens waiting to meet their new best friends. Thanks to a very generous supporter, we will be waiving adoption fees for kittens all Septempurr long!

Kitten adoptions include:
  • Age-appropriate vaccinations
  • microchipping
  • combo-testing
  • spaying or neutering
  • complimentary exam after adoption
If you think kitten energy might be a bit much, PAWS has many beautiful adult cats longing for a home as well. All cats one year and older are available for an adoption fee of only $5 as part of our $5 Felines program

Matching Gift Challenge

Your donations during our Matching Gift Campaign will help us rescue, heal, spay/neuter and provide necessary care to the almost 1,000 cats and dogs surrendered to us each year. These animals come to us for many reasons, but once they arrive at PAWS, your support helps us give them the best care possible until they find their forever home.

Right now, we are trying to raise $30,000. Once we reach our goal, two wonderful and generous donors will match that total. Your gifts help dogs like Jessie, rescued from a high-kill shelter and have helped PAWS spay or neuter more than 80 kittens this summer. Please make your gift today and double the impact you have on rescue animals!

Wish List

This month PAWS is in need of the following items: Are you a regular Amazon.com shopper? If so, use our AmazonSmile link and Amazon will donate money to PAWS!

We also have our Amazon.com Wishlist that we regularly update with much needed items. Check it out!

PAWSome Kids!

Help your child gain reading confidence this school year by coming to our PAWS Reading Program! This is a fun opportunity for elementary-age students to come to PAWS and read to cats. Reading to cats serves to socialize the cats and provides a non-threatening reading environment for kids to develop their literary skills. For more information, please visit our website.

Volunteers Needed

Welcome back students, we missed you! If you miss your family pet, please think about giving our cats and dogs some love.

We always have a need for more dog volunteers, especially for our morning dog walking shifts. It’s a great way to get exercise and make new friends - both canine and human. Click here to learn more about dog care training.

You’ll feel the love for sure when you volunteer for a cat shift, especially at feeding time! They love their food and attention - and we’d love to have more cat volunteers. Click here to learn more about joining our cat volunteer team.

Happy Endings

Below are some photos and stories our adopters have sent us. You can see more Happy Endings in our photo albums: 2017  | 2016  | 2015  | 2014 | 2013

Darwin

"It's been about two weeks since I brought home Darwin (formerly known as Gerald) from PAWS. I'm happy to say that he's thoroughly enjoying his forever home! He's a total lap cat, very sociable, and his favorite spot in the apartment is right here in front of the sliding glass door looking out over the balcony. He's almost always by my side (or climbing into my lap, especially when I'm working!) and loves snuggles and play time. I'm so happy to finally have some company! Thank you for everything, PAWS!"

Teeny

"Teeny is such a sweet girl. We've had her now for just over a year (July). She's such a blessing. She just had her 5th birthday. We celebrated with her by giving her some vanilla ice cream and animal crackers. She loves walks, truck rides, and the boat. She is so good with little children. We are still working on socializing her to other dogs. We just found out she has a severely collapsed trachea but with the help of two medications three times a day, she is breathing 0k and full of life! We just wanted to update you and tell you how much of a blessing she is in our lives. We would be lost without her! She is our first pet and she is just so special. Thank you for allowing us to take her in July of 2016!"
