December 2018
Inner East PCP Updates
Executive Officer's Report
As we draw closer to the holiday period and our annual partner forum on 6 December, I have brought together the achievements of the IEPCP with our partners, in a report that can be found on the IEPCP website.
I invite all partners to have a glance through, to view the variety of areas and issues we support, and would welcome any feedback on the years activity through our 2018 Partnership Evaluation Survey.

Volunteers Day: December 5 is International Volunteer Day. What are you doing to celebrate the achievements of your volunteers?
Disability Advocacy:

DARU: An Introduction to Disability Advocacy
A free course: Empower people with disabilities, their families and carers to advocate for themselves.
DHHS: Victorian disability advocacy futures plan 2018-2020
Disability advocacy is a critical safeguard to prevent abuse and neglect and to uphold, promote and protect the rights of people with disability.
Mental Health Stepped Care funded in the EMR: Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network (EMPHN) is funding Access Health and Community, and its Connect4Health partners: Carrington Health and Link Health and Community, to deliver a new Mental Health Stepped Care service in Melbourne’s inner-east from January 2019.
Systems in practice: Victorian case studies: The Australian Prevention Partnerships Center has published examples of systems in practice in a Victorian health promotion context.
Summer holiday viewing: The Angus Project irreverently takes on disability stereotypes
Angus is an aspiring sports journalist with cerebral palsy, who works for local newspaper The Bathurst Gazette. He wastes his days with his carer Nina, a flailing university student who has a knack for blowing even the most mundane tasks out of proportion. Assisted by their eclectic drug dealer Kane, the two find colourful ways to shirk their responsibilities, and undermine their mean boss Kath, who runs the regional disability service provider.
Volunteering and Sexual Harrassment in the Workplace Survey: Did you know volunteers don’t have the same legal protection from sexual harassment as employees under commonwealth laws? The Volunteering and Sexual Harassment in the Workplace Survey closes Wednesday 12 December 2018.
CEH Health literacy course 2019: Reach more clients and improve communication. The CEH 4-day Health Literacy Course can help you make it easier for consumers to find, understand and use information about your services
