"We're contacting you about your tax fraud..."

Not the words we want to be hearing on a Monday morning (or at any time of any day for that matter!!) Recently I've been spammed by these calls from Washing area code 202.  The bottom line is this - the IRS does NOT phone you to collect money.

So what do you do when you receive one of these calls?

1. Just hang up. You're not going to be annoying the IRS, just being another rejection to some random Indian scammer (all my calls bar one were answered by Indians with thick accents).

2. Hurl abuse at them, then hang up!

3. My favorite... we all spend time in the car. Not much to do. Want to give yourself some entertainment? Phone them back. Again, and again, and again! The challenge is to see how long you can keep them on the call. While you're engaging them, they're not trying to scam someone else.

But, again, bottom line, the IRS do not phone you trying to collect money. Nor will they email you either (another IRS scam doing the rounds). They will only write, and I hope you never get one of those unless it's enclosing a check!

Many of you who know me well, know I love Marie Forleo of Marie TV. She's very inspirational, and not a little bit quirky! This week, her video email was on chasing even the unrealistic dreams.

We all have them, many of us are afraid to voice them, but we all dream about being in a better place, a better frame of mind. Marie share 5 great steps for helping yourself get there in this video.

What's new this year from the search engine giant? The first thing on the radar is site load speed. As Google looks to deliver better quality content faster, they are looking at slow sites as not totally fulfilling this.

The 2nd area of interest which really has a ways to go before it becomes widespread, is secure sites. Right now, the giant isn't placing much weight on it, but potentially it's coming to a website near you. We'll keep watching.
As we talked about IRS scams in the first part of the newsletter, we're happy to highlight one of our trusted business partners, Dick and Sherry Steiman of Bisceglia Steiman & Fudeman. We have them doing our taxes this year, so if you're looking for a new CPA or Bookkeeper (Sherry does that!), we highly recommend them.
