Bio

Nineteen year old Nicole Ting began learning the piano at the age of four. She took part in the New Zealand School of Music Young Musician’s Programme (formerly known as the Academy) from 2008-2012 and also achieved both her DipABRSM and ATCL exams in piano performance in 2012 while studying under Judith Clark.

She is currently undertaking her third year of study at Te Koki New Zealand School of Music studying Classical Performance Piano with Dr Jian Liu. She was awarded the NZSM Director’s Scholarship in 2013 and the Expressions Piano Trust Prize this year and will present a solo concert held at the Expressions Arts and Entertainment Centre in Upper Hutt and another in Auckland as part of the Lewis Eady Emerging Artists Series in October this year. She was also a participant of the 2015 Wallace National Piano Competition.

Nicole has performed in masterclasses with Read Gainsford, Michael Houston, Michael Endres, Andrew Ball, Katherine Austin, Konstanze Eickhorst, Marian Sobula, and Xiang Zou, amongst others.

Inspired by Bach - Michael Houstoun
Known and loved by audiences nationwide, Michael Houstoun is touring for Chamber Music New Zealand with a special programme of works inspired by Bach. The concert includes transcriptions and homages to Bach by Rachmaninov, Shostakovich and Liszt; and a new commission by NZ composer Ross Harris.
