Royal Society of Arts celebrates new generation of socially conscious designers

The Royal Society of Arts has announced the winners of the 96th RSA Student Design Awards. Two design students took first prize in the category of Make Fashion Circular and Moving Pictures, supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery through funding awarded by Postcode Dream Trust, and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.

New study highlights the environmental savings of buying pre-owned fashion

Farfetch, a Make Fashion Circular participant, recently released a study stating that 65% of secondhand clothing purchases in the US and UK prevented the purchase of something new. These findings support the idea that the secondhand market can reduce the overall consumption of new goods — as well as suggesting that there's room for more growth in that approach to purchasing.
