The Ellen MacArthur Foundation in Davos

More than 3,000 business and government leaders will be gathering in Davos, Switzerland next week for the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting, and the circular economy will be firmly on the agenda. The Ellen MacArthur Foundation team will be participating with other Forum members at ProjectMainStream, Global Future Council and Circular Economy Board and Platform meetings, and contributing to sessions across a range of circular economy-related topics.

16 January 

10:00 GMT/11:00 CET The New Plastics Economy initiative launches its latest research on plastic packaging, including a global action plan endorsed by industry.

The Circulars: Several of our Global Partners and CE100 members are nominated for these prestigious awards for which Ellen MacArthur is a member of the judging panel.

20 January

06:30 GMT/07:30 CET Achieving Growth Within, which explores circular economy investment opportunities in Europe across the key sectors of food, mobility and the built environment, is released. This report is produced by SYSTEMIQ and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, supported by SUN, and will be available for download from our Publications page

11:30 GMT/12:30 CET Launch of the Circular Design Guide, developed by the Foundation in partnership with global design and innovation agency IDEO. The Circular Design Guide provides inspiring methods and tools to help entrepreneurs, corporate change-makers and designers get started with circular innovation, and will be publicly available online.

Danone announced as an Ellen MacArthur Foundation Global Partner

Leading global food company Danone, has become the Foundation’s ninth Global Partner. With four core business lines, Fresh Dairy Products, Waters, Early Life Nutrition and Medical Nutrition, Danone will embark on a three-year partnership to further embed circular economy principles both inside and outside the company.

Danone also joins the New Plastics Economy initiative as a Core Partner, leveraging cross-sector collaboration to re-think and re-design the future of plastics, starting with packaging.

Pioneer University selected by US Energy Department to lead new REMADE project

The Golisano Institute for Sustainability (GIS) at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), has been selected by the US Energy Department, as part of its Manufacturing USA initiative, to lead its new Reducing Embodied-Energy and Decreasing Emissions (REMADE) Institute on clean energy. 

The project will see a national coalition of leading universities and companies forge new clean energy initiatives, deemed critical in keeping the US manufacturing industry competitive. The Ellen MacArthur Foundation will be supporting the REMADE project as a parter organisation.
