STAY HOME
As members of the transplant community, the threat of COVID-19 is of even greater concern to us, our families, and to our friends. We recipients rely on immunosuppressive medications to keep us alive, and now it's those very medications that make this threat even greater.  Each of us is trying to manage the unbelievable stress that we and our families are dealing with on a daily basis...stress that challenges our abilities to cope with even routine issues.  From the fear of infection to the uncertainty of our economic future, each of us will continue to shoulder what may seem insurmountable challenges; within ourselves, in our relationships, and in our professions.  But together, as families and as communities, we will get through this.  We are stronger together.

The board members of JTA send out our love, prayers, and very best wishes to you and all your families and friends for good health.  We hope that you stay home, stay strong, and stay safe during the many challenging days ahead.

STAY SAFE
The current situation with COVID-19 and the global pandemic has caused each of us to live very different lives and has created innumerable ripples across our personal relationships and online communities.  With stay-at-home orders, quarantining and self-distancing, most events commemorating National Donate Life Month have been cancelled.

There are, however, ways that we can celebrate NDLM and provide donor education by promoting organ, tissue, and eye donation through social media.  Below is some information from Donate Life America on how you can help.
Donate Life America will be taking an online approach for National Donate Life Month observances this April.

Please join us on
FacebookInstagramTwitter, and DonateLife.net to help us honor donors, recipients, and their families and caregivers. We will also be recognizing the clinical teams continuing their dedicated work during this time to help support the gift of donation and save the lives of those waiting for a second chance at life.

You can access DLA's National Donate Life Month materials at DonateLife.net/NDLM.

Read more about Donate Life America's activities, promoting NDLM on social media, Transplant Games of America, the Living Donor Registry, and much more

How you can help educate others about organ,
tissue, and eye donation.

95% of Americans are in favor of being an organ donor, but only 60% are registered. Here are things you can do to help bridge that gap.
The dates and location for the 2020 Gift of Life Celebration and Tribute to Life have been announced!

Tribute to Life - Friday, October 16
Gift of Life Celebration - Saturday, October 17

Both events will be at Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach.
Just as you, we'll be keeping a constant eye on the status of COVID-19 and its effect on our area.  We will provide updates as needed and more information about the events as we get closer to the dates.  At this time, we are planning on opening up event registration in mid-August, but know that very well may change.
Christ Episcopal Church
We are very grateful to the staff and members of Christ Episcopal Church for extending an invitation to us to host our fall events at their beautiful location and facilities.
Latest Update on COVID-19 and Organ Recovery

UNOS, ASTS, AOPO and AST all urge local recovery of organs.

The donation and transplant community has expressed unified support for the surgical recovery of organs by local teams. UNOS, ASTS, AOPO and AST released statements regarding this important step in reducing exposure to COVID-19, safeguarding the health of clinicians and facilitating the continuation of organ transplant in this challenging environment.
