Dear Friends,

I’m overwhelmed with gratitude at the hospitality and support that I met with on my recent visit to the Netherlands.

To meet my friends, family and former colleagues who have supported PCF’s projects for many years, and to communicate our message and mission to new friends and contacts was priceless.

They all help to ensure that the people and children we care for get what they need to improve their and their communities' circumstances and opportunities in life.

A new School in Burma and a new Village Library is rising up in Cambodia! Read more.

One of our primary goals currently is to guarantee stable funding for our existing projects for two to three years. They can make longer-term goals that will have lasting impacts if they know that their funding is secured.

Two Recent Fundraisers:
  • Members of Classic Cars of Lanna recently organised the 'Secret Samoeng Run' and raised 10.000 Thai Baht (300 EURO). We will use this donation to invest in the education of bright students who are committed to helping their own marginalised communities. A huge thank you to everyone involved in this fundraising event!
  • In August, Stig Vinck of ‘Stay in Chiang Mai’ real estate participated in his first 70.3 Ironman race in Indonesia, raising a total of € 3.000 for Philanthropy Connections,. This grueling  triathlon consisted of 1.9 km open water swimming, 90 km cycling and 21 km running. Stig crossed the finish line in 5 hours, 59 minutes and 16 seconds, beating his personal goal by 30 minutes.

Sallo's Fruitful Trip to the Netherlands
Here in the photo, Catherine Keyl and Sallo are visiting the Lodewijk College, where the catering company donates to Philanthropy Connections. Sallo also had the opportunity to speak on the TV Show 'Business Class' and on Radio M Utrecht, allowing for PCF's message to go out to a wide audience throughout the Netherlands.
There were many other fundraising events and opportunities. Just to list a few:
  • Ami Utji and Jorn Veenstra, organised a ‘Fundraiser Reunion’ where Sallo explained  what the monies that had been raised in 2017 were used for.
  • Anneke Wind hosted a ‘High Tea’ for her friends to raise funds for PCF.
  • Sponsor Horeca Meubilair Den Haag welcomed Sallo to their Barkruk Outlet.
  • Orquidea Romero & Dorine Veldhuyzen asked for donations at their huge birthday party.
  • Edwin Wierda Vermogensbeheer offered their support for one of our projects.
  • Jenny and Kees Vonk asked for donations at their 50-year wedding anniversary.
  • Stichting De Grootste Familie Helpt pledged funds for the construction of a new kitchen/study hall building for one of our projects.
  • Sponsor ‘Dit Was Het Nieuws’ invited Sallo to attend a recording of their TV show.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to meet with Sallo. Your continued support is what makes our work possible!
Meet the New Communications Team!
Noor Ali and Jacob Mooney recently joined us  as our new Communications Team. We are thrilled to have them with us and excited about the creativity and work ethos they already demonstrated.
Media Team Visits Cambodia
Annigje Jacobs (The Netherlands) and Brice Godard (France) visited one of our preschools and a few of our scholarship students in Cambodia. They filmed & photographed the impact that these educational projects have in rural areas where few opportunities are available.
Filming to Make a Difference in Myanmar
Marcin Piotrowski from Poland visited the Intensive English Career Bridging Program in Burma, which is focused on developing leadership skills among ethnic minority youth. He also filmed an interview with German singer Mikis, a celebrity in Burma, to raise awareness about human trafficking among at-risk youth. This is a project in partnership with ‘Focus’ - an NGO that fights human trafficking.
A Rare Day out for Refugee Children
Children from the Koung Jor Shan Refugee Camp boarding house got the rare opportunity for a field trip. A colouring contest, learning how to make detergents and how to cut hair from professional hairdressers, organised by local monks, was all part of a fun and instructive day trip.

Thanks to our sponsors Sandra and Yves Vontobel, these children have as much as a normal life as possible under the difficult circumstances of living in a camp.
New School in Burma Going Up!
With our partner, the Lahu Women Organization, we are building a school in Pying Mong, a remote village in Burma. There are no toilets, no running water and no schools. Sixty children have no access to education...

Soon the new school will open its doors, and for the first time in their lives, these children will enter a classroom, sit down and start studying. It is a small step across the threshold for them, but a huge leap towards a future with greater opportunities in life.

We are grateful to Tony Mann, who sponsors this school in memory of his late wife Nancy.
Library Reconstruction in Cambodia
With our implementing partner KAKO, we are constructing a new library in Ta-Chet to replace the old, small building. The new building will have enough space to be used, not only as a library, but also as a community centre.

It will be a great place for children to maintain and develop their reading skills and for the community to learn and enhance their sense of community.

Can you help us achieve our goal of keeping these projects going?
