We Fight for HER

Dear Fellow Advocate,

Happy June! We hope you and your loved ones are safe, happy, healthy, and ready to enjoy the summer.

We would like to invite you to a conversation entitled Accountability Without Prisons: Why We Should Close the Rose M. Singer Center next Tuesday, June 8th at 5:30PM. Since bail reform was enacted last year in New York State, the majority of women and gender expansive people detained pretrial are for violent felonies. In this discussion, Sharon White-Harrigan, Executive Director of the Women’s Community Justice Association, and Danielle Sered, Executive Director of Common Justice will discuss what constitutes a violent felony, why they occur, the violent vs. non-violent binary, and the importance of utilizing alternatives to incarceration and detention.
We hope you join us on Tuesday, June 8th!
