Mum’s the word on the streets

Mother’s Day is on Sunday 30 March and it’s approaching fast.

Send her your love. It’s the least you can do. Paperchase has a great range of cards, gift wrap and stationery.

Make it a Mother’s Weekend. Treat her to a stay in a local hotel. There are plenty of bus connections, three convenient tube stops and Euston Station just a 15 minutes walk away.

The luxury Radisson Blu Edwardian Grafton will greet her in style and Trunk, the hotel’s bar and restaurant is a great place to relax over a traditional afternoon tea after a hard day’s shopping or sightseeing. Myhotel Bloomsbury also offers a range of ultimate escape packages for that all-important woman in your life.

Wine her and dine her. Whatever her taste, Fitzrovia will do her proud, especially on and around Charlotte Street. There’s Michelin-starred delights at Pied à Terre or contemporary and informal Japanese food in the award-winning Roka (the cocktails in its downstairs Shochu lounge are delicious). Zizzi serves a simple but tasty Mediterranean menu. And if she likes a spot of bubbly with her pasta, take her to Spaghetti House where mums can claim a complimentary flute of Champagne.

The best seafood restaurant can be found by booking a table at Pescatori, who will make you feel welcome and can talk you through their menu of fish, seafood and other dishes with an Italian influence.

Gigs at 12 Tottenham Street have been serving traditional British fish ‘n’ chips and Greek food since 1958.

Find the perfect gift on Tottenham Court Road. For all kinds of mum-friendly perfume and beauty products, head to Boots or Superdrug, pick up brand new mobiles and accessories in O2 and Carphone Warehouse or browse a huge selection of presents for the house-proud in Heal's and Habitat. And if you fancy treating her to a camera, kitchen gadget, or something electrical there’s always Currys PC World.

Cook up something special. She’s fed you often enough so how about returning the favour? How about breakfast in bed, a candlelit supper, her favourite chocolates. Stock up on everything you need in Tottenham Court Road at Sainsbury’sTescoMarks & Spencer and Waitrose and don't forget to pick up a bunch of flowers while you’re there.
