IC-IMPACTS Creating Sustainable Infrastructure Using New Materials

Dr. Shamim Sheikh (University of Toronto and Dr. Umesh Sharma (IIT Roorkee, India) are working together to develop alternative construction materials that are safer and more sustainable than steel. Their solution is a material called Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymers (GFRPs), a material that is corrosion-resistant, is three times stronger than steel, and can be used to reinforce columns, bridges, and buildings.

IC-IMPACTS Successfully Hosts Workshops in India


IC-IMPACTS hosted 4 workshops in India during the month of December to share knowledge and advances across all three of its research themes, and to create a path forward for increased collaboration between Canada and India.

IC-IMPACTS is proud to announce it has appointed Dr. Vivek Goel, Dr. Arvind Gupta, Mr. Laj Prasher, Ms. Jillian Stirk, and Dr. David B. Watters to it's Board of Directors. Their diverse experience in international relations, commercialization, and research innovation will strengthen IC-IMPACTS and reinforce our strong commitment to creating research accelerated change in communities.

A new Call for Proposals has launched focusing on projects that have completed their research phase and are ready to be tested in real-world environments.  This call will be on-going and researchers across Canada and India are encouraged to apply.
