Welcome to ECG's monthly newsletter, providing insights and advice about all things HR!
November 2014

Greetings from ECG!

It isn’t very often that I share personal news; in fact, I never have via this medium. However, this noteworthy news is at the forefront of my life and of the life of my children.

I am positively thrilled and delighted to announce that I am finally a “grandmère”(that would be grandmother in English!)  of two (2) adorable twins!….  a boy and a girl! Please allow me to introduce to you “Sebastien et Madelaine” who were born on 10/9/2014, each weighing in at 6 lbs and 3 oz.

Since my son Sandy and his beautiful wife Michelle have just purchased the home immediately next door to me…  well needless to say, that I will be babysitting frequently. In fact, my guest bedroom has now been turned into a “shabby chic nursery”!  Life could not get any better………..

New Partnership with Hays Benefits – Save on Health Benefits Costs

Most businesses who offer a benefits package to their employees are faced with the rising cost of healthcare due to Health Care Reform, additional taxes, and their organizations’ risk pool.  ECG has partnered with Hays Companies, the second largest privately held Employee Benefits Brokerage firm in the nation.

As an early holiday gift to you, Hays will be offering you a COMPLIMENTARY Opportunity Analysis/Feasibility Study (an over $10,000 value).  Hays will analyze your current plan designs, plan values, tier structure, contributions, member burden and outline immediate and long-term potential savings plans.  This is a great opportunity, so please don’t hesitate and take advantage of this fantastic offer!

Contact Mark Dang, SVP Employee Benefits at Hays Companies to schedule your complimentary analysis at mdang@hayscompanies.com, or call Mark directly at 424-675-2203.  ECG has had a long-term working relationship with Mark when assisting with the transition of the Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, California since 2007.

Highlights from our blog:

Labor Law Posters. It’s the law! As minimum wages increase and new employment laws are enacted, it is important that all companies, regardless of size, have up to date labor law posters. These posters must be posted in view of all of your employees; typically in a break room, or an entrance location – clearly in view for all to see. Employers’ failure to post this information may result in a fine of $10,000.00. Learn more about labor law posters.

Updating Employee Handbooks. Although not required by law, the Employee Handbook is the single most important HR best practice there is! It provides a strong foundation to clearly communicate to all employees your company policies, setting the stage for company guidelines and employee behavior expectations. Learn more about employee handbooks.

Flu Season is Quickly Approaching! Winter season brings colds and flu; resulting in loss of productivity and increased sick time. Flu season is fast approaching and it’s important that employees and management take proper care of themselves. Getting the flu shot can help prevent the spreading of this illness to others at work.Read about flu season.

Safety Tip: Lost Time Injuries. Your workers’ compensation premiums will increase when you have employees who lose time from work because of a work-related injury or illness. Getting injured on the job negatively affects both the employee and the company. Read about lost time injuries.
