Welcome to ECG's monthly newsletter, providing insights and advice about all things HR!
October 2014

Greetings from ECG!

As we enter the last quarter of 2014, now is a great time to plan your 2015 HR Calendar of Events!

The Annual HR Calendar of Events outlines all of your employee relations activities, management and hourly training modules and compliance matters month by month. By preparing your 2015 Calendar now, you won’t be scrambling next year to try and figure out what you’re going to do, when you’re going to do it, or if you have enough money in your HR budget to do it!

The most effective way to plan for your HR Calendar of Events is to include your HR staff (if you have any!) or your management and leadership team in the calendar planning. This way, everyone is involved in the process, as employee relations activities and trainings often affect everyone in the organization. Your Director of Finance or Controller will be happy that you’re budgeting these events ahead of time, so that there are no financial surprises on your 2015 P&L.

The HR Calendar may include larger events such as your annual holiday party or your employee picnic and management outings. But it also includes making sure that your employees receive their birthday cards mailed to their homes a few days before their birthday, as well as budgeted amounts for sympathy, get well and congratulatory cards. Don’t forget to include in the calendar an Easter Egg Hunt, a Halloween Pumpkin Carving Contest or those Valentine Candy Grams! If you need any help coming up with employee relations, trainings or teambuilding ideas, don’t hesitate to contact us; or you can read some of our earlier blogs where we share tips and suggestions for great employee relations!
