Welcome to the February Issue

Since the last newsletter we have had the London and Dusseldorf boat shows. Although smaller this year, some Members did report good business at London. A number of Members also attended Dusseldorf which had almost 250,000 visitors, up on 2013, and reported good levels of interest in their boats. The current weather will no doubt be dampening potential boat buyers’ enthusiasm to go out and buy a boat – we can only hope the weather system will move on soon.

ABYA is working with BMF’s BRBA looking at issues that affect our Members jointly – we now have two meetings a year and, in particular, at the March meeting, we will be looking at promotion of the Boat Sales Qualification. We also had a small joint presence at the London Boat Show with display boards around one of the coffee areas promoting the professionalism of brokers.

Neither groups have budgets to lavish on large displays, but hoped that promotion of our message within the show would help with the marketing of our message with our logos – the more they are seen the more the public will come to recognise and look for them.

Thank you for sending in your news – we really enjoy receiving it and being able to tell fellow Members about what is happening within our sector of the Industry.

Best wishes

Jane Gentry
Chief Executive Officer of YBDSA, ABYA and YDSA
