THANK YOU FOR ATTENDING THE PUBLIC HEARING!
Monday night's Community Board 2 Land Use Committee meeting was very well attended, with overwhelming support for the Garden as open space and as a place for community building and gathering—170 people signed in, 70 filled out speaker cards and, given time constraints, about 50 spoke. An unofficial seat count was 220.

Community Speakers
The majority of speakers favored the Garden, and most supporters were local. Proponents acknowledged that it is a "lousy choice" to have to decide between affordable housing and green, open space, but the community's desire to make the Garden a permanent part of our neighborhood was stated loud and clear.

WHAT’S NEXT?
Due to time constraints at the hearing, the Land Use Committee will discuss the Elizabeth Street Garden during the Executive Session of its regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, December 11th (location and time TBD). Although this Executive Session is open to the public, the public will not have an opportunity to speak or ask questions.
Until then, we will continue our focus on preserving the Garden as public green, open space and build on the momentum of this week.
