Celebrate Earth Day & Register for Saturday's Composting Workshop

Composting in the City Workshop — Saturday, April 25, Noon – 2 p.m.
Are you interested in reducing your household’s garbage by composting your food scraps but don’t know how? Come to the Garden with your questions and be ready to learn via hands-on activities and demonstrations by NYC Compost Project hosted by Lower East Side Ecology Center. FREE and open to the public. Please register in advance here.

Find out about the many options that New Yorkers have to compost their food waste on their own at home, at community gardens or with local composting initiatives. Find out also about the finer points of maintaining an indoor vermicomposting system, composting with a metal-can or three-bin system and dropping of food scraps at one of the many public food scrap drop-offs in the City.

Join us as we chalk drawings, bits of Garden site history and neighborhood open space facts across Little Italy.

Historic Little Italy Walking Tour With Lou Di Palo, 
as part of The Municipal Art Society’s Jane’s Walk NYC and
in celebration of Lower East Side History Month —
Sunday, May 3, 10 a.m..
Lou Di Palo, co-author of Di Palo's Guide to the Essential Foods of Italy: 100 Years of Wisdom and Stories From Behind the Counter. shares the vibrant history of his family's storied establishment in the neighborhood.

Vinyasa Yoga, weekly — Sunday, May 3, 11 a.m. – Noon.
Each week, an instructor from one of our neighborhood studios will help you get your stretch on in the Garden.
May Studio of the Month: Twisted Trunk Yoga, arranged by lululemon athletica soho.

Monthly Volunteer Meeting — Sunday, May 3, 6 – 7 p.m.
(Location: HMWhite, 107 Grand St., Sixth Floor)

Meridian Tapping, weekly — Saturday, May 30, 11 a.m. – Noon.
Stimulate the end points of the body’s energy pathways, develop a keener sense of awareness and clear your head.
Instructor: Wenji Zou.

Garden Hours

Volunteers keep the Garden open during the sunniest and warmest hours of the day, year round. Email susan@elizabethstreetgarden.org to help.
Garden Hours (weather welcoming)
Weekends: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Wednesdays & Thursdays lunchtime: Noon – 2 p.m.
Fridays: Noon – 5 p.m.
Public Space Party and 596 Acres Bike Ride for Gardens at Risk finishes at Elizabeth Street Garden.
