Here be dragons! Join McNally Jackson Books' Dragon Defense League. Kids will create their own dragons and pledge to protect all those secretly living in Elizabeth Street Garden. All ages welcome.

Hosted by Yvonne Brooks. Featured book series: Dragon Defenders by J.A. Blackburn and How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell.

Tuesday: Seeds of a Memoir Writing Workshop

Seeds of a Memoir Writing Workshop β€” Tuesday, July 12, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
This workshop, led by Barbara Horn, English professor emerita at Nassau Community College, includes exercises that help us discover, reflect, recall and create. With the Garden as backdrop, participants are encouraged to remember long-ago and perhaps far-away places as they begin work on memoir writing. Reading pieces with other members is encouraged but not required. (Last workshop date: July 26.)

Wednesday: Insomnia Natural Wellness Talk

Natural Wellness Talk: Insomnia β€” Wednesday, July 13, 6 – 6:45 p.m.
Join us and learn about the healing power of sleep and natural remedies for more rejuvenating rest.

Kirsten Tempel, licensed practitioner of acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, returns to the Garden with a new talk series covering such topics as stress, detox, insomnia, allergies, fertility, women’s health, pain management, weight loss and ancient Chinese home remedies.

Wednesday: Movie Nights Continue With Beijing Bicycle

Friends of Elizabeth Street Garden continues a fourth summer season of FREE movie screenings in the Garden with Beijing Bicycle.

Movie Night: Beijing Bicycle (2001) β€”
Wednesday, July 13, 8:30 p.m.

In this award-winning Chinese film, a  young country boy working in Beijing as a courier has his bicycle stolen and finds it with a schoolboy his age. With both boys claiming the bike is theirs, a series of fights ensues over what is more than just a bike.

Movie Nights are family-friendly events where neighbors meet with one another and have a great time. The Garden will remain open through the evening, so come, cool down, bring a blanket, picnic, cozy up and sink in!
