Please Write Mayor de Blasio to Save Our Garden
Today would be community activist Jane Jacobs's 100th birthday. Her unyielding grassroots organizing helped save New York City's beloved parks and neighborhoods from development.
In Jane Jacob's spirit, write Mayor de Blasio and tell him that you oppose the City’s plan to issue a Request for Proposal to developers to build affordable housing that would destroy Elizabeth Street Garden:
- Write the Mayor.
- Forward this letter link to your neighbors and friends and ask them to write a letter too.
- Share on social media both your opposition to the City’s plan and your favorite moments at the Garden. Use #elizabethstreetgarden and #ESGSaveOurGarden.
Thanks to the hundreds of supporters who have already sent letters to the mayor!

Highlights: Earth Day Tree Planting and More

Earth Day Tree Planting
Thanks to Garden volunteer Ilaria Fusina, her family and everyone who came out on Earth Day to plant a tree for the planet. After the hard work was done, kids made refreshing lemonade to share with thirsty Garden visitors.
A special thank you to street-artist London Kaye who crocheted our planetary system on the Elizabeth Street fence. Her installation was beautiful and provocative on the day that more than one billion people in 192 countries around the globe took action to protect our shared environment.
