Saturday Cookout & Potluck: Celebrate the Garden's Second Anniversary!

The neighborhood volunteer movement to save the Garden will be two years strong this weekend thanks to all of our volunteers and community supporters.
Second Anniversary Celebration: Dedicated to Our Volunteers & Saving the Garden — Saturday, May 30, 3 – 5 p.m.
Invite your friends and neighbors to participate in a cookout and potluck, taste bounty from the spring garden, and enjoy live music, gardening and additional fun activities!
To share a dish with others, bring an appetizer, salad or side if your last name begins with A – M and a dessert if your last name begins with N – Z. Burgers and hot dogs will be provided by Friends of Elizabeth Street Garden. No alcoholic beverages please.

Thanks to our volunteer and community support, we opened the Garden to the public year-round, offered more than 150 free, public events, and received Manhattan Community Board 2's support for our goal of creating a NYC Park.

This Weekend: Young Garden Stewards, IDEAS CITY Festival, Meridian Tapping & Daffodil Tie-Down

Young Garden Stewards — Friday, May 29, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
- Are you a third-grader or older looking to serve your community and care for your neighborhood garden?
- Is your child interested in service, gardening or community activism?
- Would you enjoy spending one hour a month in a peaceful setting while helping to keep the Garden open for all to enjoy?
Join us for our first information and training session. Hours are flexible, and summer plans need not get in the way. Participants under 18 must volunteer with an adult. Please email emily@elizabethstreetgarden.org with questions or to sign up.

What Do We Do With Our Land?,
as part of New Museum's IDEAS CITY Festival — Saturday, May 30, Noon – 6 p.m.
Friends of Elizabeth Street Garden participates in this three-day festival from May 28 – 30 celebrating the exchange of ideas and accelerating creativity with Deborah Berke Partners and 596 Acres. Click here for more information.
Meridian Tapping — Weekly beginning Sunday, May 31, 10 – 11 a.m.
Instructor Wenji Zou helps you stimulate the end points of the body’s energy pathways, develop a keener sense of awareness and clear your head.
Daffodil Tie-Down — Sunday, May 31, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Help tie down daffodil foliage to make room for herb and vegetable plants started from seeds earlier this year. This technique allows the daffodils to continue manufacturing food for next spring's bloom.
All Elizabeth Street Garden activities and events are open to the public and FREE.

Kids' Yoga — Weekly beginning Wednesday, June 3, 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Explore the Garden through yoga with volunteer Suzanne Monto. Open to kids of all ages and their families.
Tap Attack! & Open Jam, presented by the American Tap Dance Foundation — Saturday, June 13, 4 – 6 p.m.
Tap dance students of all ages, led by ATDF Artistic/Executive Director Tony Waag, will join with the pros to perform the Shim Sham Shimmy. Open jam sessions will enhance the afternoon festivities. Bring your shoes or try on a pair they supply.
Summer Solstice Celebration — Saturday, June 20 & Sunday, June 21

Weekly in the Garden
Children's Storytime — Wednesdays, 11 a.m. – Noon

Rally Tomorrow for City Parks
Join New Yorkers for Parks, Councilmember Mark Levine, community gardeners and other fellow open space advocates from every borough as we call on the Mayor and City Council to commit much-needed funding for our city's parks and gardens. Bring your friends, neighbors, colleagues, family members — anyone who cares about NYC's open spaces.
